FALL SPORTS AT TGS
Fall sports season at TGS will begin the week of September 6, the second week of school. We will again offer two soccer practices and one running practice a week for interested students in K-8th grade. Ray Hutchins, Ken Brautigam, Chris Harlow, and Charlie Boswell will return to coaching this fall. We are lucky to have Ian Jamieson, parent of new 3rd grader Elle, will coach the 3-4 soccer team.
All practices will begin the second week of school. K-1-2 soccer practices will run from 3:15-4:00, and 3-4, 5-6, and 7-8 practices will run from 3:15-4:30. XC running also ends at 4:30. Please bring a $20 sports fee to Tammy for all participants in after school sports.
Soccer:
Mondays and Fridays: K-2nd grade soccer (head coach Ray Hutchins)
Tuesdays and Thursdays: 3rd- 4th grade soccer (head coach Ian Jamieson)
Tuesdays and Thursdays: 5th – 6th grade soccer (head coach Ken Brautigam)
Tuesdays and Fridays: 7th – 8th grade soccer (head coach Chris Harlow)
(We will try to schedule an away game for one of the teams on Tuesdays, to avoid having to share a field.)
XC running:
Wednesdays: XC running (head coach Charlie Boswell). All ages are welcome, but participants must be able to run their race distances (6-8 years .5 mile, 9-11 years 1 mile, 11-14 years 1.5 miles). There will be meets at the Kurn Hattin School on three Wednesdays in September and October, in addition to The Grammar School Invitational at the end of the season.
Coaches and parents put in many volunteer hours into these sports. Though the activities provide a positive social outlet for the students, we also expect all participants to take the practices seriously and put effort into improving their skills. There is a $20.00 charge for students participating in fall sports, which goes towards equipment and coaching.
Parent volunteers are needed as assistant coaches for all sports. No experience is necessary, just a willingness to come and help. Please contact Mary Heller Osgood.
