Ken Brautigam has been head teacher in the Preschool since 1995.
The Grammar School’s youngest students explore their potential to
become thoughtful, independent and caring members of our society. Our
central theme is “Who Am I?”, in which we learn about our families, our
communities, the natural world and ourselves. The hum of guided
discovery takes place in a relaxed, playful and supportive environment.
Through the process of exploration and discovery a children’s natural
curiosity is nourished, while their initiative and confidence blossom.
The children enjoy their own building and playground.
They have a chance to explore wooded trails, a frog pond and surrounding fields. These areas abound with imaginative play.
Storytelling, art, music, and drama are part of everyday activities.
Our preschoolers are part of the larger school community as well, and enjoy frequent visits to the main school next door. Preschoolers participate in weekly all-school meeting, special drama and music presentations, and shared activities with the kindergartners and the first graders.
