The Lower School program allows students the time to discover,
discuss, listen, question, observe, explore and grow. Opportunities
abound to experiment and to learn by doing. The Lower School program
enables students to become independent thinkers while growing
personally in resourcefulness, self motivation, and confidence.
Students gain experience integrating their reading, writing and
mathematical skills while learning how to be successful problem
solvers. Respectful interactions, constructive collaborations,
developing social capabilities and ethical awareness create an
optimal learning environment.
During their Lower School experience students are asked to take an increasingly responsible role in their own learning, reinforcing and strengthening what they have already learned and developing and incorporating new areas of skill. An interdisciplinary and thematic approach to studies encourages students to discover how areas of learning interrelate. Lower School students experience a sense of personal responsibility and begin a life long process of actively exploring new interests and a joy in learning that will carry through future academic endeavors. A conscious partnership between home and school underscores each child’s joy and success.
