The Grammar School in Putney took its annual trek to the top of Putney Mountain in late September. Students from Preschool through 8th grade, teachers, staff members, and many parents gathered for an hour of hiking, eating a picnic lunch, and singing on a blustery afternoon. Head of School Steve Lorenz reminded students that during the early years of TGS graduation took place on Putney Mountain, and this gathering was a way of honoring that tradition.
The skies were gray but clear, the views were magnificent, and everyone seemed excited to be part of the event. Some just “loved being on the mountain,” some were interested in pointing out Stratton and Mt. Snow on the western horizon, and others tried to locate their homes on distant hillsides.
