Once you submit an application to The Grammar School a full day visit for the child is scheduled. Preschoolers visit with their parents; kindergartners only visit for half a day. The visit is a relaxed opportunity for the student to experience the Grammar School community.
Acceptances to the school for new enrollees begin in March. Candidates for admission are notified by letter by March 15. Preschoolers are informed by March 30. While applications are accepted year round, preference is given to families who apply by March 1.
The Grammar School Application
Student Evaluation:
For candidates to nursery, kindegarten and grade one
For children entering grades two through six
For candidates to grades seven and eight: English
For candidates to grades seven and eight: Mathematics
General Admissions Policy
- K-8 families will be notified of Admissions Committee decisions by March 15.
- Financial Aid applications are available through the Admissions Office and the main office.
- a completed application is necessary prior to the student visit in the classroom.
Preschool Admissions Policy
- Children need to be toilet trained prior to entering Preschool.
- Children need to be 3 years old by September 1 to enter Preschool.
- Families will be notified of the Admissions Committee decision by March 30.
Kindergarten Admissions Policy
- A child must be at least 5 years old but no more than 6 years old by September 1 to enter Kindergarten.
Parents pursuing an application for a child who does not fall within this guideline must:
- have developmental testing done at their expense
- agree to two years of Kindergarten if this is the decision of the school
